WQMS trg for grassroot level workers in Tseminyu

One-day training programme on Water Quality Monitoring & Surveillance (WQMS) for WATSAN committee, organised by DWSM, PHED Kohima rural division and sponsored by Sanitation & WSSO, PHED Nagaland was held at Rengma Students Union (RSU) hall at Tseminyu town on August 17.

A press release by PHED, Kohima rural division stated that, IEC consultant DWSM PHED Kohima, Ashale Seb addressed the trainees on the topic, “Sources of water pollution and methods of water treatment.” She explained the meaning of water pollution and how human activity was polluting the water sources. She also stated the importance of protecting water source and treatment such as traditional well, spring well etc and methods for protection of water sources. Chemist, PHED Kohima rural division, Dziesetseinuo Kiso speaking on the topic “Water quality standards”, stated that the main objective of water quality survey was to determine the physical, chemical and bacteriological characteristics of the water. 

She spoke of some of the duties of the WATSAN committee and also stressed the duty of the WATSAN to collect water samples of their respective village for testing. Trainees were also taught on how to collect samples and how to label it. She also conducted hands on training on “Field testing kit”, where trainees were given a detailed description on the contents of the field testing kit, the glass wares and how to follow the manual etc. 

Earlier, invocation prayer was offered by Logubu Tep WATSAN chairman Tseminyu village and vote of thanks was delivered by Virhelie Krunilie, sanitation & hygiene consultant, DWSM PHED Kohima rural division.
