DIMAPUR: Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) has expressed deep regret, outrage and sorrow over the incident at Naga United Village, Chümoukedima district, where a police personnel, identified as Blessto Zhimo of Ghukiye village, allegedly drew a firearm and threatened an innocent delivery boy, Khruvota of Dzulhami village, on August 1.
WSH media cell termed the act “entirely unacceptable, unjustifiable and a severe breach of public trust,” stressing that such reckless behaviour by an individual sworn to protect the public erodes peace and safety.
The Hoho said threatening an innocent worker at gunpoint created fear and insecurity within the community and posed a grave threat to inter tribal harmony. It noted that Naga United Village symbolises unity, and unprovoked aggression of this nature risks damaging the long standing relationship and brotherhood between the Chakhesang and Sumi tribes.
WSH extended its sincere apology to the victim, his family and the community, affirming solidarity and support during this difficult time. “No individual, especially someone earning an honest living, should ever have to face intimidation or fear for their life while performing daily duties,” it stated.
The Hoho further warned that it would take action against perpetrators of such incidents that incite animosity and misunderstanding among communities. It cautioned that misuse of power or attempts to disturb peace and harmony would not be tolerated.
