Western Sümi Hoho (WSH) has demanded immediate resumption of work on the Capital Bypass route and strongly objected to the subcontracting arrangements.
WSH in a statement mentioned that these arrangements, initially awarded to M/s Vilelie Khamo & Sons and subsequently subcontracted to M/s Hi-Tech Construction & Co and another third party, require a comprehensive review, which should include verification of subcontractors’ qualifications, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards, and close monitoring of project progress.
The hoho said it held M/s Vilelie Khamo & Sons, M/s Hi-Tech Construction & Co, and the third-party subcontractor accountable for assuming full responsibility and executing the project with utmost dedication, recognising its significance as a vital alternative to NH-29 currently affected by landslides. The hoho stated that prompt action was expected to ensure the project’s completion at the earliest.
In the matter of land compensation vis-à-vis Capital Bypass Road, the hoho reminded the authorities that the demands by two villages were settled long ago.
Appreciating chief minister Neiphiu Rio’s timely visit to the landslide-affected areas, demonstrating his commitment to citizens’ welfare, the WSH also extended gratitude to Urban Development and Municipal Affairs adviser Zhaleo Rio for visiting the affected areas and taking stock of the situation, and for his efforts to address the concerns of the affected communities.
The hoho said it eagerly awaited tangible actions to follow these gestures, and entreat the provision of financial compensation and relief materials to the afflicted families and individuals in Pherima and those areas affected by recent calamities, who endured catastrophic losses due to the landslides. It stressed that the assistance was paramount to alleviating their immediate needs.
WSYF calls for swift completion of Central Jail-Niuland road
DIMAPUR, SEP 5 (NPN): Raising concern over the incomplete construction of road from Central Jail to Atu Ghoki Hozukhe, Niuland, the Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) has called for swift completion of road construction project.
WSYF through its media cell said that more than ever the road has now become imperative as it was the only alternate lifeline connecting the State Capital and the rest of the districts and was smoothly traversable without any inconvenience and hardships.
The youth body stated that despite assurances of timely completion by road construction firm, the project has fallen behind schedule leading to increased frustration among the aggrieved public.
It maintained that the substandard quality of worksmanship has become evident, with numerous potholes, shattered patches and uneven surfaces along the “supposedly repaired stretch” posing safety hazards for drivers and pedestrians alike.
WSYF has, therefore, urged the firm to prioritise the swift completion of the project and ensure quality work. Acknowledging the firm and the authorities for their efforts, WSYF has also appealed to the executing agencies to “zealously monitor and verify the progress” to ensure that the quality of work was served.
