Expressing concern over the alarming dengue situation in Dimapur, the Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) has appealed to the health and family welfare department to immediately assist in controlling the recent outbreak of dengue fever.
WSH media cell suggested urgent measures to prevent further loss of life and mitigate the spread of dengue outbreak. Increased public awareness: WSH has suggested launching extensive public awareness campaign to educate citizens about dengue fever, its symptoms, and preventative measures including media advertisements, educational pamphlets, and community meetings.
Enhanced mosquito control measures: The hoho suggested strengthening efforts to control mosquito populations by conducting thorough fumigation drives, especially in the areas heavily affected by dengue. It stated that collaboration with local authorities and organizations should be sought to ensure effective coverage. Mobilization of healthcare resources: WSH suggested allocation of additional medical personnel, including doctors, nurses, and support staff, to hospitals and clinics in the affected areas.
Adequate medical supplies: It urged department to ensure that hospitals and clinics have sufficient supply of necessary equipment, medication, and resources to effectively treat dengue patients. Any shortages should be immediately addressed to prevent any disruptions in patient care.
Surveillance and monitoring: WSH asked the health department to implement a robust surveillance system to track and analyse the spread of dengue fever, which would help understand the dynamics of the outbreak.
The hoho urged the department to prioritize the matter and take immediate action to prevent further loss of lives and minimize the impact on citizens.
WSH expressed hope that the department would take prompt and effective action in combating the dengue outbreak, saying it was ready to extend support and collaborate with the department.
