WSSU condemns harassment incident

DIMAPUR

The Western Sümi Students’ Union (WSSU) has strongly condemned the recent violent act of harassment in the state, calling it barbaric and unacceptable.
In a statement, WSSU expressed deep concern over such incidents, which frequently surface on social media, describing them as disturbing and unacceptable in any civil society. The union denounced the “horrific assault” on a young girl by individuals from her own peer group, was “inhumane and reprehensible”. It stated that such acts are a gross violation of human dignity, safety, and the fundamental right to live without fear, stressing the urgent need to bring the perpetrators to justice without delay. Extending solidarity to the victim and her family, WSSU urged law enforcement authorities to swiftly identify and apprehend those responsible. It emphasized that swift action is necessary to send a clear message that such acts will not be tolerated. Reaffirming its stance against bullying and harassment, WSSU called for collective efforts from the community, educators, and authorities to safeguard individuals and uphold justice.
