WSYF condemns sexual assault of minor girl

DIMAPUR: Western Sümi Youth Front (WSYF) has expressed shock over the alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old minor girl, which came to light on May 24, 2026, and strongly condemned the incident.
In a statement, WSYF described the act as heinous and unacceptable, stating that violence against an innocent child was abhorrent and contrary to the values of a society where women’s honour and dignity are highly regarded and protected. The youth body asserted that the protection and safeguarding of people must always come first and demanded that all three accused be strictly monitored while a thorough investigation is carried out to ensure justice. It also called for all those involved in the alleged crime to be prosecuted.
WSYF maintained that any individual who failed to respect and protect the sanctity of women forfeited their standing in a civilised society. It demanded the strictest action against the accused and any others found involved in the harassment or sexual assault of the minor, stating that exemplary punishment should be imposed as a deterrent.
The organisation lauded law enforcement agencies for their swift action in apprehending the accused, saying it reaffirmed public faith in the system entrusted with protecting citizens and safeguarding their rights. WSYF also expressed solidarity with the victim and her family and appealed for strict implementation of all relevant legal provisions to ensure swift and uncompromising justice. Warning against such societal ills, WSYF said any act threatening the peace, safety and integrity of society would be dealt with under the strictest provisions of the law. It asserted that individuals posing such threats would find no refuge in society.
