WSYF lauds WSH for safeguarding Naga identity

DIMAPUR, JUL 30 (NPN)

Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) has lauded Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) for its “timely and responsible action” in addressing the matter pertaining to the integrity and identity of Nagas.
In a statement, WSYF stated that through the commendable efforts and persistent advocacy of WSH, one Shiva Narayan Choudhury- who had been identifying himself as S. Tovishe Yepthomi- had now rightfully reverted to his original identity, thereby correcting a serious misrepresentation.
WSYF also expressed appreciation to Choudhury for taking the right step in acknowledging the concerns raised and for promptly restoring his original name, stating that the decision reflected a willingness to respect the cultural and ethnic sensitivities of the Naga people.
The front further encouraged others who may have taken on names, titles or identities not rightfully theirs to follow the example “in the spirit of honesty and mutual respect.”
According to WSYF, the exemplary action by WSH reflected a deep commitment to safeguarding the cultural integrity, dignity, and unique identity of the Naga people, and set a powerful precedent for all communities to remain vigilant and proactive in protecting their heritage.
WSYF urged other organisations and individuals to take inspiration from WSH’s approach—“firm, respectful, and rooted in the preservation of truth.”
