Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) has appealed to the concerned authorities to reconsider its decision on banning street food vendors or relocate the vendors to earn their livelihood.
In a press note, WSYF through its media cell said that many unemployed youths have been affected. However, it claimed that in busy market areas like Newmarket, Old market, Hongkong market, MP road etc., may non-Nagas have been allotted fast food stalls and have been running their business day and night throughout the year. While pointing out that the area in question was the only place where the youths run business during night hours, WSYF urged the authorities to reconsider their decision and permit the boys and girls to earn their livelihood by fixing appropriate work timing and creating mechanism to check any wrongdoings.
If not, WSYF suggested relocating them at the earliest so as to allow them to run businesses and earn their livelihood. In the event the ban order is revoked, WSYF assured full cooperation to the authorities and if assigned, depute its volunteers for better Dimapur.
ILP: Meanwhile, WSYF also welcomed the decision of the state government to extend Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Niuland districts.
WSYF appealed to all Kükami (GBs) and village/towns councils under Western Sumi jurisdiction to be vigilant and cooperate with the authorities by ensuring all non-indigenous people of Nagaland residing under its territory to obtain ILP before the deadline set by the authority.
