WOKHA, JUL 14 (NPN): The Wokha Town Council (WTC) has initiated development of a designated parking area at Police Point as part of efforts to streamline parking and ease traffic flow at one of the town’s busiest junctions.
WTC chairperson Myingthungo Kikon informed that work began on July 11 and is expected to be completed within this week, weather permitting. He said the council is prioritising completion of the stretch at Police Point before extending the project towards the Axis Bank area in the next phase.
Kikon stated that construction is being carried out on a priority basis, with work continuing late into the night wherever feasible to expedite completion. However, progress has been hampered by heavy traffic and unfavourable weather conditions.
Acknowledging inconvenience caused to commuters due to restricted vehicle movement and limited parking during the construction period, Kikon appealed for public cooperation, stressing that the temporary disruption is necessary to establish a more organised parking system for long term benefit.
Upon completion, the project is expected to provide a designated parking facility at Police Point, reduce roadside parking and contribute to smoother traffic movement in the area.
