Wokha Village Students’ Union (WVSU) launched its first-ever book donation drive on July 27 at its library premises with the aim to set up a permanent community library for students and the general public.
Currently housing over 600 books, the library received 88 new books on the first day of the drive. WVSU appealed to individuals and institutions to contribute academic texts, exam materials, fiction, biographies, and children’s books to create a diverse and inclusive collection.
The Union informed that the library will be open to all and operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays- summer hours from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm, and winter hours 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
Terming the initiative a step toward educational upliftment, WVSU said future plans include reading circles, children’s storytelling sessions, and workshops on career guidance and digital literacy. A mobile library service is also in the pipeline.
WVSU thanked all donors and supporters, describing the initiative as a long-term investment in the village’s future.
