Centenarian Sosangtemba Longkumer of Longsa village, passed away on Sunday evening at the age of 108 in Mokokchung town.
He was reportedly one of the oldest among the Ao community in present times. The body was taken on Monday to his native village, where a funeral service was held.
Born in 1916, late Sosangtemba was a survivor of the Second World War Labour Corps. In 1938, at the age of 21, he had volunteered for the British and was later awarded a medal for his service. He continued to draw his pension from the Commonwealth War Pension Scheme till the pre-Covid years.
Late Sosangtemba is survived by a son, a daughter, twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
