Western Yimkhiung Hoho (WYH) has acknowledged and appreciated the bold step undertaken by the Assam and Nagaland governments in carrying out a joint eviction drive at Rajapukri and Gelajan areas.
According to WYH, the eviction sites belonged to Nagas but were occupied and settled by illegal immigrants (IBI) in the late 1980s, which led to disputes between the settlers and Naga villages– Mughavi, Hukai, Tokishe and Nizheto.
It claimed that the entire Rajapukri and Gelajan areas, now under illegal occupation, fall within the jurisdiction of these four villages.
WYH stated that to protect their land and seek a permanent resolution to the issue, the adjacent Naga villages have endured untold hardships and challenges, yet the border dispute remain unresolved.
While welcoming the joint eviction drive, WYH appealed to the state government to intervene in the matter with urgency and extend necessary support and assistance to resolve the border conflict at the earliest.
