YAA indefinite bandh on day-1 ends peacefully

An indefinite bandh called by the Yimchungrü Akherü Arih-Ako (YAA) against government decision, which disallowed YAA from holding golden jubilee celebration at Shamator, was peacefully carried out in the entire Yimchungrü jurisdiction Tuesday. The bandh included blockade of NH- 202, shutting down of 24 MW Likimro Hydro Electric Project (LHEP) and various developmental projects of the government under Yimchungrus jurisdiction.
According to sources, all the government projects under Yimchungrü jurisdiction would be completely stopped till they receive positive response from the government.
The leaders of the Yimchungrü organizations have expressed disappointment over the ‘lackadaisical attitude’ of the government against non-fulfilment of the demands.
Meanwhile, in a press release, YAA president Akiuba TS said Yimchungrüs of Tuensang and Kiphire districts “boldly came forward” to show their solidarity and resentment over the “unconstitutional and infamous decision of the state cabinet”, which disallowed holding of YAA golden jubilee at Shamator Town slated from January 7 to 10, 2016.
YAA has appreciated the “unflinching support” rendered by its federating units and general public “for the cause of our rights” and also for adhering to its directive. YAA has further informed all its federating units and the Yimchungrü general public that the total bandh would continue till the state govt acceded to its three-point charter of demands submitted earlier through the ultimatum.
YAA further directed its federating units, public, villages and volunteers to be fully prepared and be ready for any further course of action. YAA has regretted the inconveniences caused to the general public.
