Minister of PWD Housing and Mechanical, P. Bashangmongba Chang has called upon the Nagas to do away with all sorts of “isms” and corruption, which was prevalent in the present society.
He was speaking as the special guest at the Yimkhiung Arihako Chümoukedima (YAC) golden jubilee celebration held under the theme, “honouring the past-creating the future” on January 30 at K4 Venue, Chutsoli Colony Chümoukedima, informed a press release by YAC.Deliberating on the “evil practice of ism and corruption” prevalent in the present Naga society, Bashangmongba called upon the Nagas to completely eradicate such practices from the society.
He also advised that the Yimkhiung community Chümoukedima to be the torchbearers of the Eastern Naga people in particular and Nagas in general. Congratulating YAC attaining golden jubilee, he underscored the importance of honouring leaders and pioneers who had sacrificed and struggled during the formation of YAC. He also stated that one should know how to acknowledge and appreciate the leaders.
Delivering a speech as the guest of honour, Angami Public Organisation (APO) president, Razouvoto Chatsu said Yimkhiung Nagas were not new settlers but that they were earlier settlers who settled in Chümoukedima right after the birth of Nagaland state.When the government of Nagaland decided to establish the police department in 1964, he said the Yimkhiung Nagas came from far flung east Nagaland joined the police department. He also appreciated the pioneers namely late Brig. KM Caming Yimkhiung regiment No.1, P Thansphu regiment No.2, and some other senior regiment who started the Police department in Nagaland among Yimkhiung community.
At the programme, keynote address was delivered by YAC president, T. Throngkiuba. Short speeches were Western Yimkhiung Hoho president, H. Akiumong, state information commissioner, Kekongchim, SP NPCW, Er. Muleki, Eastern Nagaland People’s Union Chümoukedima president, Chemriba Sangtam, Naga Tribal Union Chümoukedima Town president, Lhousitou Khro, and ZZ. Yimchunger on behalf of former presidents of YAC.
Other highlights of the celebration included special presentation by YBBC choir director, M. Thsurela, folk song by Yimkhiung Surale Cultural Society Chümoukedima, and folk fusion by Yankiuba. The YAC golden jubilee souvenir was released by the special guest.
The programme was chaired by Alun L Khiunger and Tsurila Y; welcome address was delivered by convener, planning committee, Kiutsumong; vote of thanks by YAC general secretary, M. Chuba Yimchunger, and benediction by Yimkhiung Baptist Fellowship Chümoukedima A Village Pastor Wonglamla.
