Youth Association of Nagaland (YAN) while urging upon the state government to take serious note on the issue of Peren town water scarcity, has pointed out that Peren town was populated with more than 10 thousand people and in need of proper infrastructures.

YAN stated that the existing aged and already damaged pipeline must have run out of its validity, as has rightly been agreed upon by the CE, PHED.
While stating that boundary dispute between Peren village and Tesen village at Tesangki water source was the look out of the Peren administrative head, YAN added that it was never the problem of the PHED department.
It also stated that, there has not been any report of harassment from the area people for taking up developmental activities by the concern department and for that matter citizen of Peren town should not be held victim for no fault, forcing them to bear with same problem for such long period of time.
Youth Association of Nagaland stated that Peren public has even resorted to silent procession on May 20, 2016 and served 15 days ultimatum for setting up “special investigation team” as it pointed out that water in Tesangki river was sufficient to supply the entire Peren town.
However YAN stated that the lackadaisical attitude of the state government towards solving the drinking water issue has now affected the normal activity of student community as well.
