Yanthan calls for unity to achieve ‘Developed Nagaland by 2047’

Advisor of Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan has called for unity and collective action from all sections of society to drive development in Nagaland. He was speaking at the workshop on “Developed Nagaland by 2047,” organized by NDPP Wokha Region at Hammock Resort, New Wokha Village, on Saturday.
Yanthan stressed the need for a clear vision and inclusive, evidence-based policies to guide the state forward. He encouraged youth to explore career options beyond traditional farming and urged parents to support their children’s goals.
Resource persons included Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe MLA and CEO of Pinacle Skills, Dr Yan Murry. The programme was chaired by advisor to Chief Minister, Dr Chumben Murry.
Speaking on skill development, Dr Murry highlighted the growing impact of artificial intelligence on the job market and urged students to pursue early childhood and vocational education. He proposed introducing EV technician courses at ITI Wokha and called for stronger efforts in financial literacy to prepare youth for future opportunities.
Dr Murry also urged local leaders in Wokha to assess existing financial literacy programmes and boost youth participation.
Humtsoe emphasized good governance, unity and the need to overcome tribal divisions and corruption.
He said true progress begins with individuals taking responsibility for their communities.
Looking to 2047, he encouraged youth to embrace entrepreneurship and shift focus from government jobs to self-reliance and innovation.
Chairperson Dr Chumben Murry noted India’s rise to 4th in global economic rankings over the past 11 years. He highlighted Nagaland’s potential in tourism, tech-enabled farming and industrial growth, encouraging youth to pursue opportunities in these areas.
The event concluded with interactive sessions exploring ideas for development in Wokha district and across the state.
