Minister Planning & Co-ordination and Land Revenue, Neiba Kronu graced the second day of the Yemshe Mini Hornbill at Meluri on October 5.
According to DIPR, the minister while addressing the gathering said festivals are the time to give thanks to the Almighty and invoke God’s blessings.
He said that the presence of cultural troupes from the neighboring tribes-Chakhesang and Sangtam at the Yemshe festival, will enhances a cordial relationship.
Observing that Pochury has been blessed with natural resources, flora & fauna and enough resources of water, he suggested that power should be generated at river Tizu as Nagaland government was falling short of power.
The minister also announced that inland water ways from Tizu to Chinwing river has been approved by the government of India.
Highlights of the day included traditional games, folk dances and folk tunes from all the areas under Pochury. Archery and pole climbing competition were the special attractions of the day. DC Phek, Orenthung Lotha was the special guest.
Earlier, on October 4, minister, V. Kashiho Sangtam graced the occasion as a special guest. He was accompanied by MLA Yitachu, DC Phek, Orenthung Lotha and a host of officers from the district headquarter and Meluri sub-division.
The special guest expressed gratitude to be part of the premier festival of Pochury. He said that Sangtam and Pochury are brothers and therefore the age old traditional bond has to be renewed. The special guest also inspected exhibition stalls set up by various governmental departments and self-help groups.
MLA of 20th A/C Meluri, Yitachu and DC Phek, Orenthung Lotha delivered Yemshe greetings. Significance of Yemshe was delivered by S. Akho Leryri. Invocation and benediction were said by Rev. RümathoNyusou, executive secretary Pochury Baptist Church Council and Rev. P. Leyri Dist. Supt. SEND respectively.
Welcome address was delivered by Pochury Hoho president, Chülekhu Nyusou and a special folk tune was presented by KaroTrakhra.
The day’s highlight included sounding of Yemshe trumpet and cultural extravaganza by a special invitee team from Lozaphuhu village, (Chakhesang) cultural troupe, followed by five areas cultural troupes: Phokhungri Area Public Organisation; Phoyisha Public Organization; Kamalea Area Public Organisation; Apoksa Range Public Organization and Meluri Area Public Organisation. The function was chaired by ADC Meluri, Rhosietho Ngouri.
