Yoga programme and free medical health camp on ayurveda was organized at Viswema village council hall by Utkarsh Society for Social Change & Economic Reform, New Delhi on March 20.
The programme was graced by state programme officer, AYUSH, directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland, Dr. Seyiekhrietuo as the chief guest.
In his address he stressed on the AYUSH system of medicine where Ayush was combined words i.e A=Ayurveda Y=Yoga U=Unani S=Sidha H=Homeopathy, the three important points of Ayush medicine are that it has no side effect, Ayush medicine cures from its roots and was cost effective.
He said that presently the department of Ayush was functioning with very limited man power under Health and Family Welfare department but believe that it would soon become a full fledged department.
Stressing on the importance of Yoga, Dr. Seyiekhrietuo said that Yoga was not only for Hindus but for everybody. He pointed out that Yoga was beneficial for various sicknesses and that the United Nations has also recognized the importance and benefits of Yoga and has approved “Yoga day” on June 21.
Yoga training was led by yoga Instructor K. Lawrence and medical camp was led by Dr. Mary Belho and Dr. Vicino Nakhro under NHAK.
Altogether 120 persons comprising of elders, youth and students attended the programme and over 50 patients were treated during the medical camp.
The program was chaired by president VYO, Eyosa Kikhi and invocation by deacon VCRC, Khrüseho Khrie-o Deacon. Vote of thanks was proposed by Zholezo Pucho. Utkarsh Society for Social Change & Economic Reform, New Delhi, has thanked the Viswema Village Council, Viswema Youth Organisation, Viswema Women Organization and all the participants for the successfull program.
