Youth stabbed in Phesama; accused under evaluation

In a delayed report, a 21-year-old youth was hospitalised after being stabbed at New Police Reserve, Phesama, on September 18.
According to Kohima police PRO, duty personnel responded to a complaint and found the victim, identified as Pankhao Konyak, son of Pulei Konyak from Longwa village, Mon district, with stab injuries allegedly inflicted by Veyizo Nienu (25), son of Zachita Nienu of Phek town, currently residing at New Police Reserve, Phesama.
Police said a case has been registered under Section 118(1)/109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at South Police Station, Kohima, and investigation is underway.
Officials informed that, as per court directives, the accused has been admitted to a mental hospital for fresh psychiatric evaluation.
He was earlier reported to be mentally unsound, with a medical report indicating impaired judgement, officials said.
