ATMA Peren district conducted Skill Training for Rural Youth (STRY) programme on “Poultry Rearing and Management” from January 16 – 21, 2023 at Jalukie B village.
The training programme was organized by ATMA, Peren in association with SAMETI, Nagaland and MANAGE, Hyderabad. Tonikali Achumi, DPD explained that the training was conducted to impart skill -based training to rural youths so as to create skilled manpower to promote employment in rural areas.
The training course consisted of technical sessions where resource person, Dr. Suiyipeube Mpom, Veterinary Assistant Surgeon, Department of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry, Jalukie educated the participants on poultry production for entrepreneurship development and marketing linkages in the district.
Apart from topics on bird rearing management, prevention and management of poultry diseases, medication, vaccination was also taken up and discussed.
The field visits included tours to nearby poultry farms and KVK, Peren Poultry Farm so as to give participants hands on experience and gave them a clear idea on bird rearing by scientific method as well as traditional method.
The training programme concluded with a valedictory program, which was chaired by Kumui Nring, DPD ATMA and certificates were awarded to the trainees. Altogether 19 youths benefitted from the training programme.
