Youth urged to be instruments of change

Public Health Engineering minister, Jacob Zhimomi has called upon the student community to be instruments of positive change in the society.
Addressing the annual conference of Thilixu Village Students’ Union (TVSU) on Saturday, Jacob applauded the student community for being steadfast in their commitment for the betterment of society.
As future leaders, the minister said the students have huge responsibilities to shoulder and urged them to rise above all kinds of “isms” and remain united.
“When we are united, nothing can break our bond. And in whatever we do, let us always remember to put God first,” said Jacob.
A release by the minister’s media secretary informed that Jacob also acknowledged the pioneers of the TVSU for their vision and mission to selflessly serve the society.
Bridge over Balu Ghoki River inaugurated
Jacob Zhimomi inaugurated the T-Beam RCC Girder Bridge over the Balu Ghoki River between Shokhuvi-Pimla villages on December 16.
A press release by the minister’s media secretary stated that the bridge, a lifeline for around 50 villages, was “indispensable” for the villages both for commercial as well as for administrative purposes.
In his inaugural speech, Jacob urged the citizens to take care of the bridge as their individual property and suggested closing down of sand mining around the bridge, to “guarantee its longevity”.
He also thanked all concerned for their support and cooperation to complete the construction of the bridge.
Jacob said a bridge connecting districts have been built and that it was now the responsibility of the villages to build bridges with one another to connect physically, economically, and to develop a sense of togetherness.
