Mokokchung Town Baptist Church (MTBA) has initiated a mission project under the banner Skill Training Entrepreneurship and Placement (STEP), where an orientation and launching programme was held on July 13 at the conference hall of MTBA and selected youths availed loans offered by the church.
Sharing the vision of the project in his keynote address, associate pastor MTBA, Rev. Temsuwati, informed that this STEP project is a church mission with special focus on the educated unemployed youths. He assured that the church would provide startup capital to the youths in the form of interest free loans to start their enterprises so as to encourage the youths. He also stated that one of the main objectives of the STEP was to help youths from the present unemployment crisis resulting in societal breakdown, social evils and spiritual disintegration.
Rev. Temsuwati maintained that the project not only offers monetary loans to the beneficiaries but also includes prayers. “The project involves mentoring for each individual beneficiary as they embark on their new enterprises”, he added. The pastor also informed that the project was a humble beginning but added that there are bigger plans in the future.
Orientation to the beneficiaries was conducted by Tsukti Lkr, who gave an in-depth process on entrepreneurship and business skills. The programme was followed by the distribution of loans where the pastor of MTBA, Rev. ponen Longchar presented checks to the beneficiaries. Altogether, 12 youth beneficiaries availed the loan facility from the project.
