Youths urged to be self-dependent

Minister for forest, environment and climate change, Dr. Neikiesalie Kire on Monday urged upon the youths to be self dependent while seeking for jobs, instead of depending on their parents. 
The minister said this, while speaking as chief guest at the inauguration and blessing of Don Bosco College Kohima (DBCK), on the motto “duty and joy” at its school premise, Kohima.
According to Kire, job option should not be confined within government departments alone, but should be extended beyond, and it was up to them, how they take the challenges.  
On the academic front, the minister said that girls were doing better than their counterparts. To this, he urged the boys to work harder for better performance. 
Dr. Nicky further advised DBCK college authority to launch a website to keep track of the students and expressed hope that DBCK grow from “strength to strength”.
Guest of honour, parliamentary secretary for youth resource sports and music task force, Khriehu Liezietsu lamented on the lack of reputed academic institution in the state which resulted in brain drain and loss of economy. 
He maintained that DBCK should provide an opportunity with facilities in par with other institutions.
He further lauded the catholic community in Nagaland for providing quality education and employment opportunity through their academic institutions across the state.
Pro Vice Chancellor Nagaland University, Professor A Lanunungsang Ao stressed on the need of science education in the state and hoped that DBCK would introduce science department.
To this, he urged the P Khel villagers to donate more land to upgrade DBCK into university. 
Brief speeches were delivered by Bishop of Diocese of Kohima, Rev. James Thoppil DD, Provincial Salesian Province of Dimapur, Rev Fr Nestor Guira SDB and secretary Catholic Union Christ King Church, Keneingu Albert.
Earlier, Fr Roy Rector and Rev Fr Nestor Guira SDB gave away mementos to the guests.
Highlights of the event included special songs and cultural presentations by students.
