The Yonchucho-Sunglup Petroleum & Natural Gas Bearing Belt Land Owners’ Union (YSPNGBBLU) has resolved to withdraw the No Objection Certificate issued to Government of Nagaland and MOPGL on November 12 by the village council chairmen of Sunglup and Makharung and treat the same as null and void as it was done in violation of Article 6 of the Constitution of YSPNGBBLU.
The resolution to this effect was taken in its general meeting on January 15 in the presence of elders, intellectuals, permanent citizens, village council members, retired government servants, public leaders and general mass of Yonchucho, Sunglup, Soku and Makharung villages under the umbrella of Yonchuchu Sunglup Petroleum & Natural Gas Bearing Belt Land Owners’ Union (YSPNGBBLU) at Town Hall Baghty.
The house had thoroughly deliberated on the exploration of crude oil deposit issue within its area in view of the intervention of some self proclaimed public leaders with vested interest trying to create confusion in the minds of the illiterate and simple landowners and the village authorities by obtaining documents like NOC etc. for submission in the court of law.
The house also resolved that MOGPL would not be allowed to operate in any manner within the jurisdiction of YSPNGBBLU since the said company has no previous track records about its financial stability or credentials or its credibility in the area of oil exploration in any parts of the country or overseas at any point of time.
The house also resolved that, in future if any other reputed company other than MOGPL wants to explore Oil & Natural Gas in YSPNGBBLU jurisdiction/area, the Group Gathering Station (GGS) and Refinery be established within Baghty valley.
The house further resolved that any village authority or member issuing No Objection Certificate to any company without the consent and approval of the YSPNGBBLU would be expelled from their respective villages without any condition.
The press statement was jointly issued by YSPNGBBLU president Y Kyong, general secretary Alfred Yanthan and advisors namely E Ezung and TLYanthan in drawing the attention of the government and the public in Nagaland.
