YTC, YAA agree to govt’s appeal, but with riders

Following state cabinet’s appeal to defer the celebration YAA golden jubilee at Shamator town, the Yimchungrü Tribal Council (YTC) and Yimchungrü Akherü Arihako (YAA) held an emergency meeting at Shamator headquarters and decided to honour the appeal in the larger interest of general public and for peace and tranquillity.
In a press release, YAA president T.S. Akiuba said the two bodies have however agreed on the condition that the celebration of the YAA golden jubilee at Shamator town scheduled to be held from January 7-10, 2016 was deferred to January 14- 17, for the convenience of the student community.
YTC and YAA also decided to temporarily withdraw the indefinite strike as requested by the state cabinet for further consideration.
The two bodies also urged the state government to fulfil the three-point charter of demands placed in an ultimatum addressed to the chief minister Nagaland January 3, 2016 at the earliest.
Failing which, the YTC and YAA cautioned that they would be compelled to resume own course of action and the state government would be held solely responsible.
It may be mentioned that the state cabinet, at an emergency meeting held on January 6, requested YAA to lift the indefinite bandh and defer the celebration to a date which gives reasonable time to the government to further discuss the issue and settle it amicably.
