Yung Aung-led NSCN/GPRN (K) has refuted the recent political remarks made by the “expelled Angmai group”, labelling them as “baseless and misguided.” In a statement, the organization condemned the group’s actions, noting that these individuals had long abandoned their national commitment and are thus unqualified to discuss Naga sovereignty and nationalism.
The NSCN/GPRN expressed regret over the persistence of these individuals despite being given ample time to rectify their mistakes. The group emphasized that if Angmai had truly followed the legacy of late chairman S.S. Khaplang, he could have avoided the current situation. The NSCN/GPRN affirmed their commitment to the vision of past Naga leaders, including Khaplang, to free the Nagas from oppression.
Despite acknowledging Angmai’s long service and potential, NSCN/GPRN cited his personal flaws as impediments to his national service. The organization highlighted that President Yung Aung harbors no personal grudge against Angmai or others but noted that their expulsion was due to political differences that could negatively impact the Naga people’s struggle.
It also criticized the alliance between the expelled members and defectors, accusing them of pursuing personal gains and aligning with adversarial interests, ultimately destabilizing eastern Nagaland. The NSCN/GPRN called on Nagas to reject these “rogue nationalists” and uphold the true essence of their struggle.
Following Khaplang’s death in 2017, some NSCN members deviated and accepted arrangements under Myanmar’s Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement, leading to significant internal disagreements and expulsions. The NSCN/GPRN emphasized that they do not align with Myanmar’s Ethnic Armed Organizations due to contrasting political ideologies, reiterating their fight for Naga sovereignty against both Indian and Myanmar occupation.
NSCN/GPRN urged the Naga people to understand the critical stage of their struggle, advocating for adaptation to changing geopolitical realities. They asserted that their revolution is driven by truth, determination, and sacrifice, not merely a quest for peace and development.
Reaffirming their stance, the NSCN/GPRN declared that their principle is full sovereignty and that they will not engage in peace talks with India or Myanmar unless it centers on this issue. The organization remains committed to achieving complete freedom for the Nagas.
