The Yimchungru Women Organisation (YWO) has strongly condemned the incident of August 12 incident at Chinloiso village in Mon district, where the NSCN (KYA) cadre lobbed grenades at the Assam Rifles and villagers while returning back after clearing the landslides.
In a condemnation note, YWO president, Shoila Y Richard stated that in the event, one old man got seriously injured and the excavator (JCB) was badly damaged. “Such act only proved the cowardice and immaturity of the group”, the statement added. The release stated that the incident was shocking as the same excavator (JCB) and driver worked for many days at Thiyang village creating a football ground for the youth of the area. YWO said that the Assam Rifles have been doing commendable jobs in many places in Eastern Nagaland and as such, we should all co-operate while they perform welfare activities. The YWO urged upon the Assam Rifles to continue with the functioning of the public works.
