YWOK supports demand for separate district

Yimkhiung Women Organisation Kohima (YWOK) has extended support to the demand of the Yimkhiung community for a separate district.

In a press release YWOK general secretary, Athsang stated that the state government should honor and uphold assurance given to Yimkhiung people in letter and in spirit.

YWOK expressed disappointment that as of late, “the state government has been making lame excuses thereby, negating what had been assured”.

It stated that YWOK had been allegiant to the state government despite being deprived of their legitimate right to have a district like any other community.

YWOK hoped that “people at the helms of affairs would hear cries of its citizens” and “fulfill the aspirations of Yimkhiungrü” by incorporating all Yimkhiung administrative headquarters in the proposed district without any condition and further delay.
