Z. Nyuthe inspects ongoing Akhegwo–Avakhung road project

Advisor for New & Renewable Energy (N&RE) and Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe, MLA, conducted an on-site inspection of the ongoing two-lane road construction from Akhegwo to Avakhung (Package 1 to 3), reaffirming the government’s commitment to strengthening infrastructure and connectivity in frontier regions.
The visit focused on reviewing construction progress, work quality, and field-level challenges, ensuring the project aligns with the state’s broader vision of regional integration and cross-border connectivity.
In his remarks, Nyuthe emphasized the importance of quality, safety, and engineering precision, urging contractors and engineers to uphold high technical standards. He noted that durable infrastructure is key to sustainable development and long-term connectivity.
Highlighting the strategic significance of the Akhegwo–Avakhung route, Nyuthe described it as a vital link to Southeast Asian countries, offering the shortest access (approx. 110 km) from Nagaland to the New Thamanti port in Myanmar. He also called for active community cooperation, stressing that public support is crucial for the timely and successful completion of the project.
The Advisor was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police, Meluri, along with officials from various departments, Pochury Hoho, Pochury Mothers’ Association, Pochury Students’ Union, NHIDCL engineers, and other public representatives.
