ZCNEI resolves on Zeme unity, land protection

DIMAPUR

Zeme Council North East India (ZCNEI), at its consultative meeting held at Women Hall, Jalukie, adopted significant resolutions concerning Zeme unity, communal solidarity, ancestral land protection and matters relating to the Asalu Zeliangrong Region.
According to ZCNEI media cell, the gathering unanimously resolved that the Zeme community shall remain steadfast and united in representing itself in all organizations, while continuing to uphold and strengthen the bond of brotherhood within the Zeliangrong fraternity. It further resolved to foster deeper harmony and enduring fraternal relations with Rongmei and Liangmai communities.
On land matters, the house resolved to safeguard Zeme ancestral land and natural resources under all circumstances, opposing the establishment of villages within Zeme ancestral territory by anyone other than the Zeliangrong people. It also cautioned against indiscriminate sale of ancestral land to outside communities, stressing that such land is inseparable from the history and heritage of the forefathers. Any attempt to distort identity or erode communal rights through large-scale land acquisition, it stated, would be firmly resisted.
Deliberating on the creation of CAA NC Hills, Assam, under the Asalu Zeliangrong Region, the house acknowledged prevailing grievances and circumstances, noting that the arrangement was situation-based and temporary. It advised all concerned to work hand in hand with the Asalu Zeliangrong Region in the spirit of cooperation and unity.
The meeting further resolved that ZCNEI must be duly consulted on any matter or decision concerning the Zeme community, whether involving the Government of India or Naga authorities.
