DIMAPUR, JUN 20 (NPN): Zeme Council Nagaland has expressed profound shock and outrage over the gruesome abduction, torture and brutal killing of six Naga civilians from Konsakhul village, Manipur, describing the incident as one of the most horrific manifestations of human cruelty.
In a statement, the media cell of the Council said the atrocity was not merely a crime against six innocent individuals but a direct assault on human dignity, justice, peace and the fundamental values of civilization. It asserted that no cause, ideology or grievance could ever justify such depraved violence against unarmed civilians.
The Council noted with deep concern the reported acts of torture inflicted upon the victims, terming them abhorrent and unacceptable in any civilized society. It said the sheer cruelty had left the Naga people devastated, enraged and grieving, while the bereaved families bore immeasurable pain and loss.
Demanding accountability, Zeme Council urged the Government of India, Government of Manipur and all concerned authorities to immediately initiate a comprehensive, impartial and time‑bound investigation. It stressed that every individual responsible—whether directly involved, complicit or negligent—must be identified, arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
The Council also questioned how such a shocking act could occur despite the presence of security forces in the region, calling for urgent measures to ensure protection of civilians.
Extending deepest condolences to the bereaved families and solidarity with Konsakhul village, Zeme Council reaffirmed its commitment to pursue justice, warning that justice delayed or denied would only deepen wounds and erode public faith in institutions.
