The Chakhroma Youth Organisation started its 52nd Sports week on October 21 at Local Ground, Chümoukedima Town with Zhaleo Rio, IAS (Retd), advisor, urban development & municipal affairs dept., Nagaland, as the Special Guest during the inaugural ceremony.

In his inaugural speech, Zhaleo acknowledged the efforts of CYO leaders, village leaders, sponsors and all individuals who sweated to showcase a grand sports week, adding that leaders must be respected and that all villages or units should contribute by participating positively.
Rio noted that only 26 villages out of 44 villages were in the fray which is nearly 50% of villages under Chakhroma region and urged every village to partake the next event.
Rio asserted that it is time to progress in games and sportsand achieve greater heights through hardwork.
He further opined that Nagas have enough talent or potential and cited T. Ao who, through grit and determination, excelled in the game to lead the Indian football team in 1948 Olympics under free Indian Republic even while he was studying medicine then.
He advised young people to identify their talents, field of excellence and specialise in it, not as jack of all trades and master of none. He further appealed for proper parental guidance, initiatives such as special coaching through intervention of leaders, society, etc. where youngsters can strive ahead from the earliest stages. Rio also enunciated that a calendar of sport activities is imperative where sportsmen can rise from society level, community to range, district to state and later, national level.
Rio urged everyone to refrain from drugs and substance abuse and tribalism and mooted the idea for a mega-sports tournament of Chümoukedima district that will include all tribes. Rio requested the gathering to know more about one another through the event and concluded by stating that sports is one of the best option for employment generation, both in private and public sector today.
Earlier, the inaugural program was chaired by Visielhoulie Kuotsu, Gem. Secretary, CYO, while Ngusazo Kezo, pastor, Baptist Church New Chümoukedima, invoked blessings for the tournament and Seyieneilhou Keyho, President CYO, delivered the welcome address. Kevikhoü Krose, Medziphema Town, sang a song, a message in greetings was shared by Zhato Kimho, president, CPO, and oath was administered by Seyievil Zhotso, Games & Sports Secretary, CYO. Visako Rino, Mhashevil Ltu and Neivinuo Dzüvichü compered the ceremony and the tournament that culminate on October 28.
