In a landmark gesture of brotherhood and Christian spirit, Zhavame Village under Phek district, Nagaland, and Paodukhumai Clan of Tungjoy Village under Senapati district, Manipur, formally resolved a decades-long traditional land dispute by signing a boundary agreement on October 14, 2025.
According to a press release issued by the Joint Goodwill Mission, the agreement was reached after a series of meetings following the formation of the mission during a joint sitting held on August 22, 2022, at P.K. Shedu Resort, Senapati. The mission was constituted to facilitate peaceful dialogue and lasting resolution between the two communities.
The mutually agreed boundary demarcation begins from the RCC pillar point above NH-102(A), ascending in a straight line to the low-narrow hilltop range marked by RCC pillars, then continuing upward to the pointed rock known as Thrulü Müzho Jo, and finally reaching the common boundary stone shared by Paodukhumai Clan, Tungjoy Veimai Clan, and Zhavame Village.
The release stated that the demarcation was undertaken with mutual respect and understanding, and shall remain final and binding for all generations to come.
Signatories to the agreement included Zao-o Krocha, Village Council chairman, and Sanyi Rhi, secretary, Zhavame; and Ahrai Shelley, chairman, and Daikho Tho, secretary, Paodukhumai Clan. The Joint Goodwill Mission was led by Convenor D. Mosonyi Domeh, Co-convenor P.H. John, and secretaries Tho-o Shupao and P.S. Shelavei. Members included Pazü Paul Dukru, Vivotso Domeh, Khanyi Pohena, T. Siba Domeh, Tsukha Movi, L. Lucas Dukru, P.T. Daniel, P.S. Thekho, P.L. Dani, Dani Tho, P.S. Seva, and P.K. Shou.
