Zhavame VC celebrates golden jubilee

Zhavame Village Council celebrated its 50th anniversary under the theme “Envisioning for brighter future” at the Public Amphitheater Pame Tsüdu, Zhavame, under Phek district on December 27. In a first, the oldest person in the village, Sova Rhi, graced the occasion as specially honoured citizen.


In his speech, Rhi urged the citizens of Zhavame to live in unity and in harmony. He called on the citizens to obey their village leaders and stand together as one. He also invoked elderly and God’s blessings on the people of the village.


Earlier, Rhi unveiled the 50th anniversary monolith where the programme was chaired by secretary, ZVC, Lucas Dukru, while, Catechist, St Xavier’s Catholic Church, Sarhünyi John Krocha, invoked God’s blessings.
The inaugural programme was chaired by member, organising committee, Deo Movi, and invocation by pastor, Baptist Church, Rev. Akha Shupao.


Welcome note was delivered by convener, organizing committee, Vivotso Domeh, while longest serving VCC, P Paul Dukru, released the jubilee souvenir. Greeting messages were delivered by ex-chairman (earliest alive), Sanyi Krocha and president, Naga Students Federation, Medovi Rhi. A folk tune was presented by menfolks led by Vitao Movi.


VCC, Zao Krocha, delivered a short speech. Women Society of the village presented a folk song. The celebration was marked with various competitions on Pfusholü (folk song), Hake Hüchio (blowing of traditional trumpet) and Tsükhao Chio (traditional music). Secretary, organizing committee, Ngapunyi Albert Krocha proposed the vote of thanks while benediction was pronounced by pastor, Christian Revival Church, Zhavame, Dakhru Rhi. The programme was compered by Monorhü Pohena and Visapa Movi.
