Zhavame Village Customary Court, funded by the Tribal Affairs Department and constructed on land donated by former minister Deo Nukhu, was inaugurated by District and Civil Supply Officer, Phek, Neisazo Domeh on October 4.
The programme began with the unveiling of the monolith by the special guest, followed by a dedicatory prayer led by Rev. Akha Shupao, senior pastor of Zhavame Baptist Church.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Neisazo Domeh urged the villagers to uphold the authority of the customary court, describing it as the highest judicial institution in the village. He encouraged the community to embrace development initiatives and extend cooperation to the Village Council to ensure justice and welfare.
Highlights of the event included a report on the building construction by Mosonyi Bruce Domeh, welcome address by Village Council chairman Zao Krocha, invocation by pastor Dakhru Rhi of Zhavame Christian Revival Church, folk tune presentation by Zhavame Women Society, vote of thanks by head GB Sanyi Shupao, and benediction by Potokho Peter Pohena, Church Secretary of St. Xavier’s Catholic Church. The programme was chaired by Joshua Rhi.
The event witnessed participation from representatives of all churches, Sub-Council, Women Society, youth and students.
