Zeliang Students’ Union Nagaland (ZLSU) has appealed to the telecom operators to improve their services in Peren district. Zeliang Students’ Union Nagaland through its media cell stated that residents of Peren district were struggling with poor network coverage provided by leading telecom operators including Jio and Airtel.
Despite numerous complaints, the union said the telecom operators have failed to address the issue severely impacting daily life, business, and emergency services.
It stated that district’s rugged terrain and limited infrastructure were no longer an excuse for the subpar service.
Zeliang Students’ Union Nagaland said that lack of reliable connectivity has resulted in frequent call drops and disconnections causing inconvenience and lost productivity.
Further, the union slow data speed was making internet access unreliable and hindering online education, healthcare, and banking services. It said that inability to send or receive messages was affecting communication and business operations, adding that limited network coverage in rural areas was exacerbating the digital divide.
It said that poor telecom network was impacting local businesses, affecting livelihoods and economic growth, compromising emergency services and putting lives at risk.
Therefore, the union has urged the two leading telecom operators to immediately address the network issues and increase tower density.
Zeliang Students’ Union Nagaland also urged the companies to improve infrastructure to provide reliable and consistent connectivity. Besides, Zeliang Students’ Union Nagaland also urged them to conduct regular maintenance and upgrades to ensure optimal service.
Meanwhile, the union has requested the responsible authorities to intervene and ensure that the telecom operators take necessary steps to resolve the issue at the earliest.
