ZLSUN first phase native village visitation concludes

In a committed efforts to engage with the local communities and to strengthen unity and understand the grassroots issues, Zeliang Students’ Union Nagaland (ZLSUN) carried out the first phase of native village outreach programme in Peren district from April 8 to 12, 2025.


The initiative was conducted under the theme, “uniting roots, igniting future”, where ZLSUN delegation visited multiple villages under the Tening administrative circle and Nsong circle.


Throughout the outreach, the delegation held meaningful discussions with the villages’ chairmen, school management committee members, youth and student leaders.
According to ZLSUN, these provided valuable insights into local challenges and highlighted key areas for collaboration and advocacy.


The union appealed to all villagers to actively participate in preserving the rich biodiversity of the district. ZLSUN also voiced concern over the misuse of Right to Information (RTI) Act by individuals with vested interests.


The union also encouraged the general public to make full use of the various government educational institutions and training centers established in the district, emphasizing the importance pf education and skill development in driving community progress.


Meanwhile, the union expressed regret that they could not visit Nkio, Lalong and Nzauna villages due to adverse road conditions. The union expressed apologies for the unavoidable omission and assured that efforts will be made to include these villages in future visit.


They also extended gratitude to all host villages for their hospitality and candid sharing views. Further, ZLSUN appealed to the esteemed leaders of the villages scheduled for visitation during the second phase to extend their support, and expressed anticipation for a meaningful and productive engagement.
