ZPOD urges govt. to expedite Foothill Road work order

Dimapur:

The Zeliang People Organization Dimapur (ZPOD) has appealed to the Government of Nagaland to expedite all necessary documentation, including the issuance of the Work Order, for the ongoing Foothill Road Project by March 31, 2026. The project covers an estimated 395.8-kilometre stretch from Khelma in Peren district to Tizit in Mon district.
Highlighting the significance of the project, a press release ZPOD general secretary, Junang Chawang, stated that the Foothill Road is crucial for the citizens of Nagaland as it will enhance accessibility across districts and promote economic growth throughout the state.
The organization also expressed concern over the proposed four-lane highway upgradation, pointing out that the SASCI has already sanctioned a two-lane highway. ZPOD urged the government to prioritize the Foothill Road, which is already in progress.
“The Foothill Road represents the people’s mandate and aspirations. We will highly appreciate the Government of Nagaland for prompt action, ensuring timely execution and completion of this project in the larger interest of the state,” the release stated.
