Zeliangrong Student’s Union (ZSU) organized a felicitation programme on June 27 at Baudi hall, Jalukie wherein secretary of tourism, art and culture Angau I. Thou highlighted the importance of gender equality in educational opportunity.
Addressing the students, Thou said there was no substitute to hard work and one can achieve anything through hard work. She also said that nothing can stop if one have determination and march forward with vision and will power.
Emphasizing on ZSU motto “Fight the good fight unto the last” Thou stated “how long do we wait and ponder, why not today, it’s our collective responsibility to make Zeliangrong people move ahead economically and educationally”.
Reminding the gathering about the past achievements of Zeliangrong in becoming the first chief secretary, MBBS, IAS etc. among the Naga tribes, Thou lamented the achievements gap in younger generation and asserted that nothing can stop if one was determine.
She maintained that excellence should come from within and not by force and told the students that it was just the beginning and they have long way to go.
Thou encouraged the students to promote culture and traditions because affinity of tribe can be traced by their cultures and dialect.
The programme was chaired by Deusoyi Rangkau, invocation and special prayer for the toppers was offered by Pastor Local Baptist Church Jalukie Mongjeung Mpom, welcome address was delivered by Joshua Pame and greeting note was presented by Bangdi Chawang. Speech on behalf of merit students was presented by Ashuiliu Chawang, solidarity message by Maijiang, G/S ZBN and special song was presented by Maningdinliu and Binthu Newmai.
