ZSUN calls for parental compliance on child safety

Dimapur

Zeliangrong Students’ Union Nagaland (ZSUN) has issued a public appeal urging parents and guardians to strictly adhere to legal protocols when sending children below 18 years of age to other states for education or related purposes.
In a press statement, ZSUN president, Adaube Idekha Hau and general secretary, Kibouwi Zeliang, expressed deep concern over increasing instances of minors being relocated without proper documentation, thereby exposing them to potential risks and violating provisions under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.
ZSUN reminded that as per Section 37 of the Act, prior clearance from the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Peren District, is mandatory before any such relocation. The Union emphasized that this documentation is vital to safeguard the child’s legal rights, ensure their safety, and facilitate a secure transition.
Failure to comply, it cautioned, may invite legal consequences including penalties under the Juvenile Justice Act and other applicable laws.
Reaffirming its commitment to child welfare, ZSUN called upon all stakeholders to cooperate in upholding the law and protecting the interests of children. The Union assured that it will continue to work proactively for the well-being of the community, especially its younger members. For further guidance, parents and guardians are encouraged to approach the CWC, Peren district, and complete the necessary procedures before sending their children outside the state.
