ZSUN flays firing on commuters

DIMAPUR, JUN 7 (NPN): Zeliangrong Students’ Union Nagaland (ZSUN) has condemned brazen act of violence inflicted upon commuters belonging to Zeliangrong community while travelling from Dimapur to Jalukie in the early hours of June 5.
ZSUN president Edward Nring and asst. general secretary Witenthuibo Chawang stated that as per information, the victims were allegedly followed by an unidentified maroon Alto vehicle along with an individual dressed in combat fatigues from the vicinity of DIET Training Centre, under ChĂĽmoukedima district.
The union said that despite repeatedly giving way to allow the vehicle to overtake, it reportedly continued to follow them aggressively. The situation allegedly escalated near Pimla between 1:50 a.m. and 2 a.m., when a gunshot was fired at the vehicle. ZSUN said the bullet pierced the vehicle, causing visible damage.
ZSUN said the sequence of events posed a grave threat to human life and urged law-enforcing agencies to take immediate cognisance of the matter and expedite identification and apprehension of those responsible.
