Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has not recruited any female members so far, said a statement reacting to recent claims of a female member of the outfit being arrested by a combined team of state police commandos and troops of Assam Rifles.
Police had claimed that Rebika Devi, wife of M Shamungou of Naoremthong in Imphal West district, was arrested by a combined team of Imphal West commandos and troops of Assam Rifles.
The claims had also added that she was arrested with a huge quantity of ammunition on December 14.
Besides not recruiting any female members, the outfit does not use any female member or allow them to be involved in its movement demanding a separate homeland/statehood for the Zeliangrong people within the Union of India, the statement issued by its information and publicity wing said.
It urged the security forces to not level baseless allegation, fabricated and concocted charges on any person and also to not resort to implicating any parent, brother, sister or any member of the family just because their sons or relatives were participating in the movement because “Zeliangrong homeland/statehood of which movement is not at all an anti National neither unlawful.”
ZUF was compelled to issue this unavoidable clarification to clear doubts and suspicion unnecessarily created by the claim of the security forces, it added.
On the other hand, with the approaching Christmas celebrations, the ZUF extended warm Christmas greetings to all people irrespective of caste or religion, and particularly the Zeliangrong people living in different parts of the country.
While extending the Christmas greetings on the birth anniversary of Jesus the “Prince of Peace”, the outfit asserted that the celebrations heals the wounds of sorrow and pain and lets the spirit of love rejuvenate every heart.
It also wished for the New Year 2019 to bring love, peace, true happiness, success in all the people’s endeavours, and joy to all the people.
