WOKHA, JUN 17 (NPN): Zukhumki Federation, Chukitong Block, under Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM), held its third annual general meeting (AGM) at AG Church, Koio village on Tuesday with chairman of MSME‑PCI Wokha district, Yanrenthung Humtsoe, as special guest.
Addressing the gathering, Humtsoe encouraged members to pursue economic empowerment, self‑reliance and community development through collective efforts and livelihood initiatives. He described NSRLM as a valuable platform enabling rural communities, particularly women, to improve their livelihoods and attain financial independence. He urged members to review achievements of the past two years and adopt innovative strategies for future growth. Stressing the importance of financial literacy, Humtsoe said knowledge of financial management, government schemes, skill development programmes and training opportunities was crucial for the success of Self‑Help Groups (SHGs).
Expressing satisfaction over the progress of SHGs, he noted that many groups had recorded significant socio‑economic improvements and encouraged members to remain dedicated.
Head GB of Koio village, Nchumbemo Ezung, highlighted the positive impact of SHGs and Village Level Organisations (VLOs) on household incomes, women’s entrepreneurship and community participation. During an experience‑sharing session, Lochumlo Kikon recounted the journey of CIG on Spices SHG, Tsungiki, which diversified from pickle and ginger candy production into chilli and soybean cultivation and value‑added processing. The group earned recognition at district and state levels, including the Best Performing SHG Award in 2018 at the Aajeevika and Kaushal Vikas Mela.
Earlier, Janthungbemo N. Ezung delivered the welcome address, while the programme was chaired by CLF executive committee member Nzanbeni Kikon. Mhonchumo Kikon invoked blessings, Ajanbeni Ngullie presented the financial report, federation president Y. Lucy Kikon delivered the vote of thanks, and Lovungi Kikon pronounced the benediction.
