Zunheboto police sensitized on law

A program under the theme ‘Legal sensitization programme for police officers and law enforcement personnel’ was organized by Zunheboto District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) on September 10, at the SP’s conference hall, Zunheboto.

A press release from, Nagaland State legal Services Authority (NSLSA) member secretary stated that DLSA Zunheboto, civil judge and secretary Atoka Achumi speaking as the as resource person for the program spoke on the salient features of criminal procedure code, Indian penal code, evidence act and the Information Technology Act.

Achumi also presented a special case study on the latest aspects of criminal case laws in the country including references to the landmark judgments of Supreme Court cases. Achumi also sensitized the police personnel on the special legal provisions related to juveniles, women and children.

The participants were also apprised on the trend of court procedures and insight on the absolute necessity of evidence in courts of law.

A short speech was delivered by SP, Zunheboto, Uniel Kichu who spoke about the significance and importance of the program.

The program was followed by a discussion hour with the participants, which was moderated by assistant public prosecutor Zunheboto, Kivinto Swu. The panel of resource persons also clarified various doubts raised by the participants and also deliberated on various issues faced by the police officers.

Participants also received booklets on Legal literacy and pamphlets on legal aid and criminal laws.

The program was chaired by DLSA, Zunheboto project assistant, Tovi Z. Yeptho and later vote of thanks was delivered by SDPO Zunheboto Zubenthung Ovung.
