ZVYSO condemns raid; demands removal of AR outpost at Zhadima

Zhadima Village Youth and Sports Organisation (ZVYSO) has condemned the raid carried out by Assam Rifles (AR) at the private residence of Roko Angami on the wee hours of October 29.

In a press note, ZVYSO president Vizosielie Khoubve and general secretary Kevingulie Theünuo claimed that the raid was carried out under the command of Maj. Sartaj Singh posted at AR post IG Stadium, allegedly under the direction of Col. Umesh Saki. ZVYSO claimed that the raid was conducted without any search warrant from the legal authority and alleged that the paramilitary force forcibly entered the house and broke “door locks, broke cupboard and safe locker in the absence of the house owner.”

“This atrocious act of the Assam Rifles has inflicted mental torture and fear psychosis in the family, induced public panic and insecurity”, ZVYSO stated.

It also said that the “detestable act” had tarnished the good image of Roko Angami and deeply hurt the sentiments of the public.

If the Assam Rifles happened to act on “any devised information provided by some unscrupulous informant”, Zhadima Village Youth Organisation (ZVYO) demanded the responsible individual to be brought to light for justice.

“Enough of innocent Nagas have been tormented and killed by the Indian Armed Force because of such false information by some treacherous spies”, it said.

Stating that the Assam Rifles should tender public apology for the character assassination of a public leader and disrupting public peace and harmony, the organisation stated that it should “ruminate on the abrogation of the sketchy tag friends of the hill people”.

ZVYO also demanded that the Assam Rifles outpost at Zhadima village be removed at the earliest as it “no longer served its purpose or provide security to the people.”

It said that the land inhabited by Assam Rifles at Zhadima village was not an acquisition property of the Assam Rifles and demanded for the area be “cleared at the earliest as the villagers intend to use it for a more productive development.”
