The Zeliang Youth Organisation Dimapur (ZYOD) held its second general meeting-cum-induction programme on April 13 at Zeliangrongram Council Hall, Dimapur. The event marked the official induction of new office bearers for the 2025–2028 tenure, and brought together various leaders and community members in a spirit of unity and purpose.
During the programme, the treasurer’s report was presented by Melandialiu Nbung, treasurer of ZYOD, while the secretary’s report was delivered by Kaiwang Domta. A blessing for the newly inducted office bearers was pronounced by Lungyigwangle, Youth Director of Zeme Baptist Church, Dimapur.
Incoming president Idizeung Reunim, in his inaugural address, called on the new team to work collectively for the welfare of the Zeliang community. Acknowledging the challenges posed by limited resources, he emphasized the importance of unity, integrity, and mutual trust. “We may lack resources, but with clean hearts, clean hands, and belief in one another, we can move forward together,” he said, expressing readiness to listen and work closely with the team.
President of the Nagaland Zeliang People’s Organisation (NZPO), Zandi Domta, addressed the gathering with a candid reflection on the lack of unity and coordination within the Zeliang tribe. He highlighted dialectical differences as a contributing factor to division but praised the youth for their ongoing efforts to bridge these gaps. Domta encouraged the youth to pursue unity and expressed confidence that collective action could help the community realize its goals, especially in a diverse city like Dimapur.
Touching upon financial constraints faced by community organizations, Domta noted that even the NZPO operates with limited resources. He warned that excessive funding could lead to corruption and undermine peace, urging the youth to continue their mission with sincerity and whatever means they have.
Representing the Zeliangrong Women Organisation Dimapur (ZWOD), Zaisi Ramlia expressed pride in the community’s proactive role during both good and challenging times. She urged the youth to consult senior bodies before undertaking any major initiatives, assuring them of the unwavering support of the women and mothers of the community.
A representative from the Zeliang Students’ Union Dimapur Kaichunbo commended ZYOD for the dedication to public welfare and encouraged the new leadership to continue working collectively for the betterment of the tribe.
Elder Asa Reunim expressed his trust in the new team and encouraged them to carry out their responsibilities sincerely. He emphasized the importance of preserving the mother tongue as a cornerstone of identity and appealed for broader community support.
Speaker of Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU), Tesiding Newmai, lauded ZYOD for the selfless service to the Zeliang community, not just in Dimapur but beyond. He voiced hope that the new team would carry forward the same enthusiasm for social betterment.
The programme was chaired by ZYOD Speaker Zanghei Iheilung, who also delivered the welcome address. The invocation was led by Deacon Asa Reunim of ZBCD, with the vote of thanks delivered by ZYOD general secretary Rampau Haining. The programme concluded with a benediction from Chandi Newmai.
The new team would be led by for president Idizeung Reunim as president, Rampau Haining as general secretary, Kaiwang Domta as general secretary and other members.
