Zeliangrong Youth Organization Nagaland (ZYON) has announced its decision to commence agitation across Peren district starting April 23, against “delay in justice” for the murder of a woman from Mhaikam village, whose body was found in a forested area near Pimla village under Chümoukedima district on April 7.
Speaking to Nagaland Post, ZYON president R John Zeliang stated that the agitation would continue until justice was delivered. He said the agitation would cover the entire Peren district.
However, John informed that essential services including paramilitary forces, police personnel, medical services, educational institutions (schools and colleges), district administration, and media would be exempted. He also clarified that normal business activities would remain undisturbed and all business establishments may continue to operate.
He informed that all other government offices, excluding the district administration, would be shut down as part of the agitation. He warned that government-registered vehicles, if found plying during the protest, would be doing so at their own risk.
ZYON said the government would be held responsible for any untoward incidents that could arise during the protest. To ensure smooth coordination, ZYON said a coordination meeting was held with subordinate units and Peren-based civil society organizations.
ZYON reaffirmed that the movement would continue until the government responded to their demands.
