12 hour shutter-down in Chumukedima today

Six Chumukedima-based organizations have called for a 12-hour shut down of all business establishments in Chumukedima area on Monday fmo 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., to register their protest against the attack on two labourers by unidentified miscreants on February 27 evening.
The six organizations comprise of Chumukedima Chambers of Commerce and Trade Association (CCCTA), Chumukedima Town Mothers Association (CTMA), Chumukedima Town Youth Organization (CTYO), Chumukedima Students’ Union (CSU), Chumukedima Tribal Union (CTU) and Chumukedima GBs. 
In a press statement, CCCTA president, Avi Chase and secretary, James Kin said that the two daily wage labourers– Abdul Sukur and Ainul Haque, who works at Abdul Korim’s bamboo and bali posts enterprise, were shot at by an unidentified gunman at 7th mile junction (Khuova road junction) Dimapur. On February 1, a demand note of Rs. 100000 was asked to be paid within one week. However, the refusal to pay the demand led to the incident, CCCTA stated. 
While expressing solidarity and condemnation on the incident, CCCTA said that the six organizations held an emergency meeting on February 28 and decided to impose the shut down. It further reminded all about the February 13, 2014 unanimous resolution adopted by the public, NGOs, Churches and all communities to extend full support to ACAUT Nagaland. Till the time a new resolution is adopted, the February 13 resolution remains binding, it added. 
CCCTA also demanded the concern state government agencies to immediately arrest the culprits. 
The house also appealed to the state government to grant necessary compensation to both the victims and all their medical and other expenses until they fully recover. 
The organizations also appealed to the police department to depute more security forces in order to ensure peace and tranquillity.
Meanwhile, ACAUT, DCCI and CCCTA visited the hospital to inquire about the condition of the victims. ACAUT also termed the incident as an attempt to create “fear psychosis” among the business community and people of Nagaland.
DCC Dimapur flays 
District Congress Committee (DCC) Dimapur has expressed serious concern on the deteriorating law and order situation in Dimapur, where two labourers were shot at by unidentified gunmen at 7th mile, Dimapur on February 27.  
In a condemnation note, DCC Dimapur, president, Kughato S Aye has blamed the state government for completely failing to control law and order situation in the entire state particularly in Dimapur district. 
While condemning the shooting of innocent public, DCC Dimapur appealed to the district administration to book the culprit (s) at the earliest. DCC further warned of initiating “public mobilization for restoring law and order” in the district on the failure to arrest the culprit (s) and for which district administration would be held responsible.
