Poll campaigning restriction

DC and DEO Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan, through a press release has informed all concerned that under Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act 1951, in the period of 48 hours ending with the hour fixed for the close of poll, no campaign for the by-polls can be carried out. DIPR reports that as directed by the Election Commission of India, all the political parties and candidates have been informed to take note of the restrictions and ensure that no political, procession or campaign functionary, party worker etc. from outside the constituency and who are not voters of the constituency shall remain in the constituency from 4 p.m of May 26 till the election is over.
