Yemshe, a harvest festival of Pochury tribe, was celebrated by Pochury Hoho Dimapur District (PHDD) with pomp and gaiety at Agri Expo, 4th mile Dimapur on Monday.
Extending Yemshe’s greetings, DPO DRDA, Zhitho Nyuthe said the day was observed as the day of building relationship of different villages, making friends, exchanging joy to friends and relatives and inviting them.
On the occasion, Zhitho also urged the gathering to eradicate ism within the society and sow the seed of unity.
Earlier, while delivering short speeches, senior member, Majetho Joshoury exhorted the importance of organizing a common platform to foster unity and to bring closure of all the community together.
Significance of Yemshe festival was highlighted by Er.A.Ritachu Thurr.
Other highlights of the festival included folk song, cultural show and cultural dance.
The programme compeered by Chiru Thuzu & Viwiesa Sharu began with pastor PBC CMD, Hopejoy M. Sharu invoking God’s blessing.
Welcome address was delivered by president PHDD, Soutsütho Amon, vote of thanks was proposed by general secretary PHDD, Chiru Thuzu. The function concluded with benediction by pastor PBCD, Rhochusie Katiry.
